GEORGIA-01R IS A HIGH-YIELDING, PEST-RESISTANT
RUNNER-TYPE VARIETY

GEORGIA-01R is a new multiple pest resistant runner-type peanut variety that was released in 2001 by the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Stations. It was developed at the University of Georgia’s Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton, GA. Georgia-01R has shown good resistance to tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV), both early and late leafspots, Cylindrocladium black rot (CBR), stem rot or white mold, and

leafhoppers, which should be beneficial in lowering production costs. When grown with recommended or reduced pesticides, Georgia-01R was found to have a significantly lower percentage of disease incidence, higher yield, grade, and gross dollar value return per acre than C-99R, DP-1 and Hull. However, Georgia-01R has the same late maturity and spreading runner growth habit as these other commercial peanut varieties.

Georgia-01R was developed by Dr. William D. Branch at the University of Georgia’s Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton GA. It is a protected peanut variety that can only be sold as a class of certified seed and only by individuals licensed by the Georgia Seed Development Commission (GSDC) under guidelines established in conjunction with the University of Georgia Research Foundation (UGARF).
